Obra Social Santa Lluïsa de Marillac, a non-profit organization based in Barcelona, takes in and assists homeless men, men suffering from severe illnesses, as well as men who have been released from prison or who are in prison.
Philarthropic carries out weekly group and individual art therapy sessions with men helped through Obra Social Santa Lluïsa de Marillac, offering them the possibility to choose between various artistic mediums in order to create and develop their own means of artistic expression in the company of Florencia Pacheco, the art therapist that guides the experience.
Thanks to these sessions, participants are able to make use of the creative process in order to boost personal growth and reconciliation, tackling the need to create and stabilize ties with people and places in their surroundings. It is a process of reforming and improving self-esteem and self-worth, as well as the worth of their subjective experience, through the use of a metaphorical world. By using art as an instrument of communication and expression, they are able to transform “errors“ made in the creative process into opportunities.
