La Escocesa ↗ is one of the most interesting and unique spaces for artistic creation in Barcelona. Located in the district of
Poblenou, the former municipally owned factory is currently a
center for multidisciplinary artistic research and production that encourages the development and promotion of work by local and international artists.
The center's main building hosts a plurality of activities, in addition to being a central route for the center's workers, resident artists and visitors. In collaboration the Barcelona-based artist
José Alcañiz, we proposed an
intervention on one of the center's main walls, damaged by the inevitable passage of time. Our aim was the recovery of the space through the integration of a work that would be both inspiring and attractive to spectators, each giving the work additional artistic value with their own interpretation and viewing.
The intervention, titled
“White to black: 19 steps until the door”, was realized in November 2018.
